Walls and Windows

What was left of the Berlin Wall was one thing I wanted to see.

Berliners with little or no direct memory of the wall were not long ago demanding the preservation of the little that remains. Many believe it should be kept as a reminder to the German people and the rest of the world.

As a woman the other thing I was curious about was the red light district in Amsterdam.

Legal prostitution in Amsterdam is one of the city’s biggest draw cards, especially for tourists.

But wandering through the narrow alleyways and watching the girls seductive smiles through the windows, to me, seems only part of the story. I battle to understand the world of prostitution, and I do not mean to condemn prostitution itself, but I must say I was left with a sour taste after visiting the district.

To New and Old Friends

One of the greatest pleasures with travel is the opportunity to make new friends and meet up with the old.

In Germany we were invited by Juan Claudio and Katrin to stay at their beautiful guest house in Southern Germany. We had never met Juan but he had contemplated doing a Patagonia tour with us a few years back and has been following our blog ever since.

In Prague we met up with an old friend, who took care of us as only Semir can.

Thank you friends.
